華威大學(xué)admission老師口中最忌諱的PS模板
之前機(jī)緣巧合碰到過(guò)華威大學(xué)的一個(gè)admission老師,然后就聊到了中國(guó)學(xué)生申請(qǐng)中的個(gè)人陳述PS這一環(huán),聊到這里的時(shí)候老師的聲調(diào)明顯比之前高了,呵呵,眉毛都翹了一翹。
他說(shuō),‘我不知道其他學(xué)校是不是這樣,我們?nèi)A威大學(xué)貌似收到的來(lái)自中國(guó)申請(qǐng)者的PS 都很大程度上呈現(xiàn)出模式化的問(wèn)題’。
總結(jié)下來(lái),基本是這樣。
第一段,介紹自己小時(shí)候的生長(zhǎng)環(huán)境是怎么樣的,我爸爸媽媽做的是什么工作,對(duì)我有啥幫助(學(xué)校內(nèi)心OS:你小時(shí)候哪兒長(zhǎng)大的,爸媽干啥的跟我們學(xué)校有啥關(guān)系?)
第二段,我在學(xué)校的成績(jī)有多好多好,學(xué)過(guò)哪些課程(學(xué)校OS:你成績(jī)?cè)趺礃?,學(xué)了哪些課,我們?cè)谀氵f交的成績(jī)單上度能看到吶,你應(yīng)該跟我們說(shuō)你學(xué)的東西以及你擅長(zhǎng)的科目跟你今后的研究方向或者說(shuō)未來(lái)想要學(xué)的課程和你未來(lái)規(guī)劃的方向有什么關(guān)聯(lián)?有哪些助力?又有哪些gap?)
PS:這個(gè)Gap指的就是你目前的知識(shí)跟你未來(lái)想學(xué)的東西之間還有哪些問(wèn)題,或者很難解決的問(wèn)題,或者之前從沒(méi)想過(guò)的問(wèn)題存在?比如,我現(xiàn)在學(xué)的是物流,我想要學(xué)酒店管理,那么怎么樣在物流和酒店管理之間找到聯(lián)系?比如酒店新鮮事物的冷鏈運(yùn)輸,或者是客房物品的采購(gòu)著一些?

當(dāng)時(shí)聊完的時(shí)候,也是實(shí)力尷尬,因?yàn)槲矣浀迷谖襊S的最后一段,就是寫(xiě)得我多么多么愛(ài)英國(guó),多么多么想去你們學(xué)校!!!

My interest in science dates back to my years in high school, where I excelled in physics, chemistry, and math. When I was a senior, I took a first-year calculus course at a local college (such anadvanced-level class was not available in high school) and earned an A. It seemed only logical that I pursue a career in electrical engineering.
When I began my undergraduate career, I had the opportunity to be exposed to the full range of engineering courses, all of which tended to reinforce and solidify my intense interest in engineering. Of course, my plans following completion of my current studies are to move directly into graduate work toward my master's in science.After I earn my master's degree, I intend to start work on my Ph.D. inelectrical engineering. Having majored in literary studies (world literature) as an undergraduate, I would now like to concentrate on English andAmerican literature.
I am especially interested in nineteenth-century literature, women's literature, Anglo-Saxon poetry, and folk lore and folk literature. My personal literary projects have involved some combination of these subjects. For the oral section of my comprehensive exams,I specialized in nineteenth century novels by and about women. The relationship between "high" and folk literature became the subject for my honors essay, which examined Toni Morrison's use of classical, biblical, African, andAfro-American folk tradition in her novel. I plan to work further on this essay, treating Morrison's other novels and perhaps preparing a paper suitable for publication.
In my studies toward a doctoral degree, I hope to examine more closely the relationship between high and folk literature.My junior year and private studies of Anglo-Saxon language and literature havecaused me to consider the question of where the divisions between folklore,folk literature, and high literature lie. Should I attend your school, I wouldlike to resume my studies of Anglo-Saxon poetry, with special attention to itsfolk elements.
Writing poetry also figures prominently in my academic and professional goals. I have just begun submitting to the smaller journals with some success and am gradually building a working manuscript for acollection. The dominant theme of this collection relies on poems that draw from classical, biblical, and folk traditions, as well as everyday experience,in order to celebrate the process of giving and taking life, whether literal or figurative.
